After Oleksandr Usyk won their heavyweight championship rematch overnight on Saturday, Tyson Fury insisted that the judges gave him an early Christmas present.
The “Gypsy King,” who was unsure of his future, maintained that he had won the contest, which was unanimously decided by all three officials to be 116–112.
The 36-year-old Fury, who was undefeated until he faced Usyk in their May four-belt unification bout, leaves Kingdom Arena in Riyadh with two losses.
“I’ve been in boxing my entire life, so I know it—you can’t change any decisions. However, I feel like I’ve been taken advantage of, quite a bit.
“There was a little bit of Christmas spirit in there,” he continued. He received a small Christmas present. “You might do, you might not do,” Fury responded when asked if the public would witness him fight once more. Who knows?
The decision was deemed “nuts” by promoter Frank Warren, who also declared victory for Fury.
He claimed that the boxer would require time to determine whether to retire or get back into the ring since he needed to win in order to start a trilogy battle.
It is up to him. It’s only after a fight, after all. Emotions are clearly running high. “We shall see,” Warren remarked.
“It is what it is, and we will have to wait and watch what Tyson does in the future. He will decide what to do.
