
LAHORE: The UAE will serve as the neutral location for India’s matches in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy, which will be held in Pakistan, according to a Sunday announcement by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
The Board has notified the International Cricket Council of its decision, a PCB spokeswoman said. Pakistan was tasked with choosing a neutral location for the eight-nation tournament, he noted.
This decision means that the Champions Trophy matches between India and Pakistan would be held in the United Arab Emirates.
A meeting between PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi and UAE Minister of Tolerance Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan in Ghotki led to the final decision about the neutral venue, the PCB spokesperson added. The minister of the United Arab Emirates is also the chairman of the Cricket Board of the nation.
An agreement was made between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates to advance cricket. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan received an invitation from the PCB chief to travel to Pakistan in order to observe the Champions Trophy matches.
