
According to state-run Radio Pakistan, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will speak at the 11th Summit of the Developing Eight (D-8) nations, which is taking place in Cairo today.
The D-8 Organization for Economic Cooperation, also referred to as Developing-8, was established in Istanbul in 1997 as a development cooperation organization between Egypt, Nigeria, Turkey, Pakistan, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Iran, and Malaysia.
By concentrating on improving and strengthening cooperation in agriculture, trade, transportation, industry, energy, and tourism, it seeks to increase economic cooperation among member nations in order to sustain development, raise economic growth, and promote and improve standards of life.
Today, PM Shehbaz traveled to Cairo to attend the summit at the Royal Palace of Egypt.
According to Radio Pakistan, he was welcomed by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi of Egypt and left his thoughts in the visitors’ book housed at the palace.
PM Shehbaz met with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto and Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the chief advisor of the interim administration of Bangladesh, on the fringes of the summit.
Additionally, he is anticipated to meet one-on-one with the presidents of Egypt, Iran, and Turkey.
- The summit this year, which is scheduled for December 18–19, has as its topic “Investing in Youth and Supporting SMEs: Shaping Tomorrow’s Economy”.
In order to develop a robust and inclusive economy, generate employment, foster innovation, and encourage local entrepreneurship, PM Shehbaz will emphasize the significance of investing in youth and SMEs during the summit.
Additionally, he will participate in a special D-8 session on “Humanitarian Crisis and Reconstruction Challenges in Gaza and Lebanon” to discuss the circumstances that

During a previous June conference, the alliance called for more international pressure on Israel to implement a ceasefire in Gaza and full Palestinian membership in the UN.
Yunus’ actions to increase travel and trade with Bangladesh are appreciated by the PM.
PM Shehbaz described his meeting with Yunus of Bangladesh as a “very warm and cordial exchange,” and Radio Pakistan reported that several constructive measures had been agreed to promote tourism and trade between the two nations.
In a post on X, the premier stated, “We talked about expanding trade, enhancing historical and cultural ties, and investigating collaboration in IT, chemicals, leather, surgical goods, and other sectors.”
Additionally, the two “agreed to align efforts for mutual development and enhance people-to-people exchanges.” The prime minister went on, “We reaffirmed our commitment to deepen bilateral and multilateral collaboration for the shared prosperity of our peoples.”
The two leaders recognized the value of interpersonal relationships and cross-cultural interactions, particularly those between students, athletes, artists, and academics, according to Radio Pakistan.

The Bangladesh Cricket Team’s recent visit to Pakistan and the Jal music band’s performance in Dhaka were also “noted with satisfaction,” the statement continued.
According to the report, PM Shehbaz thanked Bangladesh for the recent actions taken to ease trade and travel between the two South Asian countries. These actions included removing the requirement that all shipments from Pakistan be physically inspected and doing away with a special security desk at the Dhaka airport that was previously in place to examine passengers from Pakistan.
Additionally, the prime minister expressed gratitude to Bangladesh for eliminating an extra clearance need for Pakistani visa applicants.
